Exploring Mexico

The Mayan Riviera lies along the coastline on the Gulf of Mexico and includes the resort destinations of Cancun,

Playa del Carmen and the island of Cozumel. Many tourists flock here to the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. There are such enjoyable activities as dolphin and stingray swims, snorkeling among reefs and tropical fish and scuba diving in the world’s largest underwater museum with an amazing collection of sculptures. Walking distance from the beaches are ancient Mayan ruins with the most impressive being Chichen Itza and Tulum.

The ancient city of Tulum is one of the most visited attractions on the Yucatan Peninsula. The ruins stand atop of 12-meter cliffs that overlook the Caribbean Sea. Tulum is famous for its tall walls. The town dates back to the 13th century and offers many important archeological finds among them the Temple of the Frescoes with its sculptures and reliefs

and the Castillo, the sites largest building known for its cliff-side location.

Puerto Vallarta a city on the Pacific coast is another popular beach destination.

The city has lovely beachside promenades and you can go swimming with dolphins, paraglide and jet-ski among other activities.

You’ll find Los Cabos at the southern tip of the beautiful Baja Peninsula. It is one of Mexico’s top beach destinations. The large stretch of coastline that extends from the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo is known as the Los Cabos Corridor. Visitors enjoy swimming in the clear waters, diving, snorkeling, and fishing. There are various resorts here and offer some of the best golf courses in North America.

One of the most popular activities here is swimming and snorkeling around the famous natural landmark El Arco de Cabo San Lucas, a huge archway carved out of the coastline where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific.

Chihuahua is one of Mexico’s most northerly states, sharing its border with New Mexico in the U.S. It is home to one of the country’s most visited natural attractions, Copper Canyon.

It is in a region known as the Sierra Madre Occidental and consists of an amazing group of deep canyons.

The canyon walls are a copper green and they were formed by six rivers that converge in the Rio Fuerte before draining into the Gulf of California. Visitors can take scenic rail trips or excursions by bike or on horseback.

The city of Guanajuato is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. It has many old colonial buildings, winding lanes, and narrow alleyways.

and the impressive Juarez Theater. The city has subterranean streets that are part of a network of tunnels, once carrying a river but now used by pedestrians and cars. Guanajuato is known as the art city with many galleries and museums. The Museum of Quixote is dedicated to the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes.

An interesting city to visit is Guadalajara the capital of the state of Jalisco. It is known for its broad avenues, picturesque parks and old buildings with a European flair. The city has four large squares that together form the shape of a cross and comprise the Old City center.

The best of them is Plaza de Armas with buildings like the 17th century

 Blue green tranquility

Agua Azul is an amazing waterfall in the state of Chiapas. This area has a stretch of shallow canyons and cliffs where water comes plunging down into natural pools. It is in the heart of the jungle where you can see a variety of local flora and fauna and observe exotic wildlife.
